Line Up to date ehead of the 5th edition

Masterpiece London returns to the world’s capital of culture in June 2014 to celebrate its 5th anniversary edition. The 2014 offering of exquisite art, antiques and design from across the world, with over 90% of exhibitors returning, cements Masterpiece London’s role as a leading international fair which is pioneering in its advocacy of cross-collecting.

Graham Southern, Director at Blain Southern, said “Last year marked the gallery’s first appearance at Masterpiece and the fair was undoubtedly a resounding success. What makes this fair so unique is the range of artworks on display, where one might unexpectedly encounter anything from classical to the contemporary, creating an immersive opportunity to experience and learn about art for both the dedicated collector and the viewing public.”

The fair will showcase the finest master works available, creating an unmissable opportunity for international collectors and connoisseurs. The fair will take place from 26 June — 2 July 2014 (with a Preview on Wednesday 25 June) in the South Grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea, London SW3. Tickets are £25 and can be purchased from the Masterpiece website http:www.masterpiesfair.com

Of the 2013 fair, Peter Osborne, Director of Osborne Samuel said “Masterpiece has become a highlight of our summer season and 2013 was an exceptionally successful event for the gallery. The fair has become an essential destination for British collectors and this year we also saw many more visitors from USA as well as mainland Europe, and China. It is the most elegant of fairs and provides visitors with a fabulous feast for the eyes; and for serious collectors, a wonderful choice of the very best things in their chosen field. As well as meeting old friends, every year at Masterpiece we meet new collectors from around the world, and we are already acquiring masterworks for the 2014 event, which can’t come soon enough!”

Objects and artworks of the highest order will be presented across multiple disciplines; paintings and works on paper, ceramics, rare maps, sculpture, photography, jewellery, important furniture and contemporary design will all be offered for sale. All works will be stringently vetted by a committee of experts before the fair opens, giving buyers every confidence in their choice.

Harry Fane from Verdura added “Masterpiece has established itself as one of the ‘must attend events’ of the London season. Everyone will tell you something different about participating but for Verdura, we find the fair beautiful and it attracts an interesting and diverse group of visitors who buy our jewellery. What more can we ask for?”

The Masterpiece Marie Curie Party will take place on Tuesday 1 July at 19.00, the second year that the charity has been the beneficiary. In 2013 the Midsummer Party, chaired by Heather Kerzner, raised a record of £840,000, beating Marie Curie’s target of £500,000 by a phenomenal amount.

Nazy Vassegh, CEO of Masterpiece London, said, “We are delighted to welcome back such a significant portion of our 2013 exhibitors. Our 5th fair will mark a milestone for us within the international art fair circuit and this level of support highlights the strength of our cross-collecting offering”.
